am a designer specializing in web, graphic, and interface design.
I began work in this industry in 1998, and from 2002 to 2005 I
worked at Lockheed Martin doing software interface design, primarily
for web applications. Because of the proprietary nature of the
work done for Lockheed Martin, I am not able to show it in my
During this time at Lockheed Martin I honed my interface design
skills as the only front-end developer in a team of programmers.
It was exciting to meet directly with clients as part of the software
development team. We gathered requirements and then designed applications
from the ground up.
As a team we collaborated on how each screen should look and function,
and I interjected any display issues that I could foresee. During
software design meetings I also assimilated everyone's input and
developed storyboards of how the system would function. After
the functionality and information architecture were determined,
I created the GUI design. I made sure that it was flexible and
scalable for the system, and easy to translate into the final
programmed web application.
After the design was approved, I built out all of the screens
in HTML, keeping in mind what sections would need to be built
in blocks that could easily be swapped in and out by the developers.
Then the developers took the HTML and images I provided and put
the back end functionality behind it. If they encountered any
display issues during this process, I was there to debug and troubleshoot
the problem across multiple browsers and platforms. I also performed
testing and quality control procedures, and performed application
demos and training for clients. When needed, I assisted with technical
writing and development of user guides.
My experience ranges from working at a small boutique design agency,
to being an in-house designer for a large company. I work very
well independently, but also enjoy being part of a team to accomplish
excellent design and user-friendly software. I have worked in
Mac, Unix, and PC environments, and I am knowledgeable of industry
best practices, such as working in a development environment and
then pushing a site live to production servers. I pay close attention
to detail, following customer requirements such as Section 508
